This is a fun trick I learned from a friend who makes handmade paper embellishments. It makes some really adorable items and the upside is that all you need is some paper, stencils, ink pads and water  Biggest Grin

Step one:

Select a stencil and paper that you want to use.

Step two:
Put the stencil on the paper and adhere with a small amount of masking tape.

Step three:
Use a toothpick, dip it in water and then go around the stencil like you are using a pencil to trace the design. You will have to dip the toothpick multiple times, but I've found it gives you much cleaner lines than a paintbrush.

When you are done you should have something that looks like this:

If you are using heavy cardstock you will need to use more water.

Step four:
Tear the paper along the lines you made with the water. It should tear fairly easily. If it doesn't put the stencil back on and go over the lines with water again.

Step five:
Add details with ink. If you have a stencil like mine that has inside details that you can add like the lines on the cone use a stippling brushwith some ink on it. If you don't have a stippling brush wad up a small amount of saran wrap. The effect is almost identical.

Finished Card:

I used the stencils that are on today's Deal of the Day. I like them because they have "layers" that you can work with.
